
Jazmine was raised and born from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her mother Pam was once a backing singer at Philadelphia International Records. Her father gave her the job of curator for the Historic Strawberry Mansion. She along with her family moved into the landmark. In 2005 she graduated from the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts with an alumna of the vocal music department. Sullivan started singing in children's chorus in the contralto position, after which she was a part of the adult choir a few years after that. He was exposed to secular music but was initially limited "I was doing solos in the church, and I was asked to go on the gospel label at age was 11, but I was not prepared to sign that contract," she recalls. "Then the time came that McDonald's held a contest for students in big cities I had the opportunity to perform 'Accept what God Allows' on It's Showtime on the Apollo and the audience responded really well". She performed with Stevie Wonder at his grandson's birthday party at thirteen. Sullivan aged 15 was signed for the first time to Jive Records. In the age group of 15 the label signed her to Jive Records. They recorded an entire album in Jive Records, but it wasn't released. Sullivan was eventually dropped from the label. Missy Elliott was her producer on a couple of songs on her debut album. Among them "Backstabbers" the buzz track recorded by Timbaland composed by Elliott.
